Cover News — Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 3, 2026
Cover News ("we", "us") operates the Cover News mobile app, a short-form news
reader. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. Questions:
reelbriefnews@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Anonymous account identifier. On first launch we create an anonymous
account so the app can remember your preferences and saved stories. It is a
random identifier — we do not collect your name, email, or phone number
unless you choose to sign in.
- Usage signals. Which stories you view, tap, read, save, skip, or hide.
We use these to personalize your feed. They are tied to your anonymous id.
- Content you create. Comments you post in story discussions, and reports
or blocks you submit. Comments are public to other users.
- Preferences. Topic sliders, source boosts/mutes, and feed mode.
- Technical data. Standard app/server logs (e.g. IP address, request time)
used for security, rate limiting, and debugging. We do not use this to build
advertising profiles.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use third-party advertising or
tracking SDKs.
How we use it
- Personalize and rank your feed.
- Operate features you use (saving, commenting, moderation).
- Keep the service secure and reliable.
Where it lives
Data is stored with our infrastructure providers Supabase (database/auth)
and Railway (API hosting). Story content and images are generated using
Anthropic (Claude) and sourced from public news and licensed image
providers; article text is sent to these providers only to produce summaries.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account and data anytime: Profile → About & Legal → Delete
Account & Data. This permanently removes your account, signals, saved
stories, preferences, and comments.
- Block users and report content from any comment.
- You can use the app without signing in (anonymous).
Children
Cover News is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect
their data.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be noted in-app or here with a
new "Last updated" date.
